About LEG STYLE CRAB SELECT

Kroger Leg Style Crab Select is a frozen imitation crab product from The Kroger Co.'s Kroger brand, sharing the same surimi-based formulation as the refrigerated version with Alaska pollock as the primary ingredient shaped to resemble crab leg portions. This frozen variant includes canthaxanthin as an additional color additive alongside carmine and titanium dioxide, used to achieve the orange-red color associated with cooked crab. Canthaxanthin is a synthetic carotenoid colorant approved for food use. Carmine remains present as an insect-derived red pigment and is not vegan.

The ingredient profile otherwise matches the companion refrigerated product: pollock surimi with corn starch, sugar, sorbitol, crab and shellfish flavor extracts, refined anchovy and sardine fish oil, egg whites, rice wine, modified tapioca starch, soy lecithin, disodium inosinate, and sodium pyrophosphate. All the same allergens apply including fish, eggs, soy, and shellfish-sensitive individuals should note the shellfish-extract flavoring.

Nutritionally identical to the refrigerated version at 100 calories per 100 grams with 10 grams of protein and 14.4 grams of carbohydrates, this frozen format offers the same flavor profile with extended shelf life. Frozen imitation crab thaws quickly under cold running water and is ready to use in sushi rolls, seafood salads, stuffed mushrooms, and warm pasta dishes. Available in the Kroger frozen seafood section at value pricing compared to fresh whole crab or premium imitation crab brands.
