About FLOUR TORTILLAS
Mas y Mas Flour Tortillas are a standard flour tortilla product sold under The Kroger Co.'s Mas y Mas sub-brand, a Hispanic-focused private-label line used across Kroger family stores in regions with large Latin American consumer populations. Flour tortillas are a fundamental component of Tex-Mex and Mexican cuisine, used as wraps for burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, and as an accompaniment to many dishes.
The primary ingredient is enriched bleached flour with malted barley flour and standard B-vitamin and iron enrichment. Water and vegetable shortening (interesterified soybean oil, soybean oil, and hydrogenated cottonseed oil) form the fat structure. Leavening uses baking soda, sodium aluminum sulfate, corn starch, monocalcium phosphate, and calcium sulfate. Minor ingredients include salt, fully hydrogenated cottonseed oil, guar gum (texture agent), fumaric acid (acidulant), mono- and diglycerides (emulsifiers), sodium metabisulfite (sulfite dough conditioner and antioxidant), and calcium propionate and potassium sorbate as preservatives.
Nutritionally, these tortillas provide 289 calories per 100 grams with 51.11 grams of carbohydrates, 8.89 grams of protein, 5.56 grams of fat, and 2.2 grams of dietary fiber. A 45-gram serving delivers approximately 130 calories. Allergen note: contains wheat (and barley malt); contains sulfites (sodium metabisulfite). Not suitable for gluten-free diets. The interesterified and hydrogenated cottonseed oils reflect an older fat formulation approach that predates or accompanies the broader reformulation of tortilla products away from trans-fat-producing partially hydrogenated oils.
