About LOWFAT MILK
Kroger Lowfat Milk is a straightforward 1% reduced-fat dairy milk from the Kroger store brand. The ingredient list is minimal: skim milk, milk, vitamin A palmitate, and vitamin D3. The combination of skim milk and whole milk is the standard method for producing reduced-fat milk of a specific fat percentage — the two are blended to reach the target fat content, then vitamins are added back as fat-soluble vitamins are partly removed with the fat.
Vitamin A palmitate and vitamin D3 are added as FDA-mandated fortification for reduced-fat and nonfat milks — fat-soluble vitamins are naturally lower when milk fat is reduced. These supplements restore the milk to the nutritional standard expected of dairy milk.
At 50 calories per 240 ml serving with 4.17 grams of protein, 5.83 grams of carbohydrates, and 1.04 grams of fat, this is a classic low-calorie dairy beverage profile. No fiber is present. The only allergen is dairy (milk). This product contains no additives, stabilizers, sweeteners, colors, or synthetic preservatives. It is as close to pure milk as a commercial product gets. Suitable for drinking, cooking, baking, and use in coffee and cereals. Not appropriate for those with dairy allergies or lactose intolerance.
