About COUNTRY POTATO BREAD, COUNTRY POTATO
Van de Kamp's Country Potato Bread is an enriched wheat bread with added potatoes, sold under Kroger's Van de Kamp's sub-brand. Van de Kamp's is a Kroger-owned private-label brand used across bread and baked goods categories. Potato bread uses cooked or dehydrated potato as a partial flour replacement or additive, which contributes to a softer crumb and slightly denser texture compared to standard white bread. Annatto and turmeric extractives provide the characteristic golden color.
Ingredients begin with enriched flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin, folic acid), water, sugar, potatoes, and yeast. At 2% or less: soybean oil, salt, sodium stearoyl lactylate, corn flour, extractives of annatto and turmeric (for color), calcium sulfate, ascorbic acid, ammonium sulfate, calcium propionate (preservative), and vinegar. Sodium stearoyl lactylate is an emulsifier that improves dough handling and crumb softness. Calcium propionate is a mold inhibitor standard in commercial bread. Allergens include wheat. No dairy, eggs, soy protein, or other major allergens are present in significant quantities, though trace soybean oil is present.
