Meijer Corn Mini Dogs are a private-label frozen snack food sold under the Meijer store brand by Meijer, Inc. of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Corn mini dogs are miniature corn dog versions — bite-sized chicken franks coated in a sweetened cornmeal-wheat batter and deep-fried — designed as appetizer, party snack, or children's meal items.
The batter uses enriched wheat flour, degermed yellow corn meal, sugar, soybean oil, dried honey, onion powder, soy flour, nonfat milk, eggs, and soy lecithin. The chicken frank is made from mechanically separated chicken, water, dextrose, salt, corn syrup, calcium lactate, sodium phosphate, paprika oleoresin, sodium erythorbate, and sodium nitrite. Notably, the casing is made from calcium alginate — a seaweed-derived material used as an edible non-collagen casing for smaller-diameter franks. A predust layer of enriched wheat flour and whey is applied before battering. Cooking oil contains corn, cottonseed, and/or soybean oil.
