Kroger Butter Recipe Cake Mix is a dry baking mix sold under The Kroger Co.'s standard Kroger store brand, designed to produce a butter-flavored yellow cake when combined with water, eggs, and oil as directed. The mix uses naturally derived flavors (declared as 'naturally flavored') to produce its butter and vanilla character.
Sugar is the leading ingredient, followed by enriched bleached wheat flour with standard B vitamin enrichment. The shortening component is a blend of palm oil and soybean oil emulsified with propylene glycol monoesters, mono- and diglycerides, soy lecithin, and stabilized with BHT and citric acid as antioxidants. Modified corn starch is present as a texture aid. Leavening uses baking soda and monocalcium phosphate.
