Tops Original Flavor Syrup is corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup in a bottle, with natural and artificial flavors and caramel color added for the look and taste of maple. There is no actual maple in the formulation. Sodium benzoate and sorbic acid extend shelf life, and cellulose gum thickens the pour. It does the functional job of pancake syrup, sweetening waffles and French toast, but offers nothing beyond concentrated sweetness and empty calories.
