About ICE CREAM BARS
Kroger Ice Cream Bars are chocolate-coated frozen novelties sold under the flagship Kroger private brand. The ice cream component is built on a base of milk, cream, sugar syrup, corn syrup, whey, and buttermilk, supplemented with maltodextrin, cellulose gel, and a blend of stabilizers including guar gum, cellulose gum, locust bean gum, and carrageenan. Polysorbate 80 functions as an emulsifier, and sucralose provides a modest sweetener boost alongside the sugars. Annatto contributes a light golden color. The chocolate-flavored coating contains coconut oil, sugar, cocoa, and alkalized cocoa, with soy lecithin as an emulsifier and a small amount of natural flavor.
Importantly, the chocolate coating ingredient list includes partially hydrogenated soybean oil, which is a source of artificial trans fats. The FDA revoked the GRAS status of partially hydrogenated oils in 2015 with a compliance deadline, and products containing PHOs in legacy formulations should be noted by health-conscious consumers. Each 100 g delivers approximately 319 calories, 21 g of fat, 28 g of carbohydrates, and about 4 g of protein. Fiber stands at roughly 2 g. Dairy and soy are present as allergens. The bars are suited for freezer snacking and individual serving portions.
