About DANISH CHEESE
Archer Farms Danish Cheese is a pastry product from Target's Archer Farms specialty bakery line, representing a laminated dough pastry filled with a neufchatel cheese blend. The dough is made from enriched wheat flour layered with a margarine containing palm oil, soybean oil, soy lecithin, sodium benzoate, citric acid, beta carotene for color, and vitamin A palmitate — a standard commercial margarine formulation that replaced butter in mass-produced Danish pastry to reduce cost and improve shelf stability.
The cheese filling is a neufchatel-based blend combining milk, neufchatel cheese (from pasteurized milk and cream), skim milk, palm oil, milk protein concentrate, cheese cultures, carob bean gum, lactic acid, mono- and diglycerides, and apocarotenal for color. The overall batter includes whole eggs, powdered sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and corn syrup. Casein and non-fat milk and whey solids are present in the minor ingredients, confirming multiple dairy components throughout the formulation.
At approximately 340 calories per 100 grams with 38 grams of carbohydrates, 18 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein, and 2 grams of fiber, this is a moderate-calorie indulgent pastry. Multiple allergens are present: wheat (enriched flour), dairy (neufchatel, milk proteins, whey, casein), eggs, and soy (margarine lecithin). High fructose corn syrup appears as a sweetener. Potassium sorbate is used as a preservative. Artificial color and flavor are declared. This is a legacy Archer Farms baked goods product typical of the pre-2019 Target private bakery portfolio.
