Festival Burnt Peanuts are a classic candy-coated peanut snack where roasted peanuts are enrobed in a hard sugar shell colored with synthetic dyes including Red 40, Yellow 5, and Blue 1. The name comes from the slightly caramelized, darkened shell that forms during the coating process. While the peanuts themselves contribute protein and fat, the thick sugar coating pushes the overall sugar content high. TBHQ is used as an antioxidant.
