Weis Australian Black Licorice draws its flavor from cane syrup, cane molasses, licorice extract, and anise extract, which gives it a more traditional flavor foundation than most American-style licorice. Enriched wheat flour provides the chew, palm oil contributes a little fat, and corn syrup and sugar add more sweetness. The fat content is low and fiber is modest. Not as aggressively sweet as most candy, and the anise note is genuine. Still solidly in the candy category, but one with some character.
