Purple Cow Neapolitan Ice Cream is a three-flavor vanilla, strawberry-flavored, and chocolate ice cream from Meijer's Purple Cow sub-brand, the premium ice cream line from Meijer, Inc. in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The base uses milk, cream, buttermilk, skim milk, corn syrup, and whey with HFCS as an additional sweetener, and alkalized cocoa for the chocolate layer.
Despite the Purple Cow premium positioning, this product contains HFCS and two artificial dyes, Red 40 and Blue 1. Natural colorants annatto extract and caramel color are also used alongside the synthetic dyes. The strawberry flavor is built from natural and artificial flavors rather than fruit pieces or juice concentrate, which is the main distinction from lower-positioned neapolitan variants. Polysorbate 80 and multiple gums (guar, cellulose, carob bean, carrageenan) provide the stabilizer system.
At 207 calories per 100 grams with 25.29 g of carbohydrates, 10.34 g of fat, and 3.45 g of protein, the nutritional profile is standard for full-fat ice cream. Zero fiber. Contains dairy throughout. No wheat or soy allergens are declared. The Purple Cow branding adds premium perception but the formulation contains HFCS and synthetic dyes.
