Market Pantry Dipped Star Cookies are a star-shaped confection-dipped sugar cookie from Target's Market Pantry value private label, made from enriched bleached wheat flour dipped in a white compound coating and decorated with a broad spectrum of FD&C colorants. The cookie base uses bleached wheat flour, sugar, and palm oil as primary ingredients, with natural and artificial flavors, salt, and leavening from ammonium bicarbonate and baking soda. Annatto provides a yellow-orange color note. The white coating is sugar, palm kernel and palm oil, nonfat dry milk, titanium dioxide, soy lecithin, and vanilla extract. Decoration incorporates eleven FD&C colorants in both lake and regular forms: Blue 1, Blue 1 Lake, Blue 2, Blue 2 Lake, Red 3, Red 40, Red 40 Lake, Yellow 5, Yellow 5 Lake, Yellow 6, and Yellow 6 Lake — the same broad spectrum as id 1940923. Red 3 is present and subject to FDA's 2024 revocation ruling. Confectioner's glaze (shellac, insect-derived) and carnauba wax provide gloss. Eggs, whey, and corn syrup are minor ingredients. Ammonium bicarbonate is a traditional leavening agent used in European biscuits and American cookies, producing a light, crisp texture by releasing ammonia during baking.
