Favorite Day Decorating Icing with Star Tip in Red is a piping icing from Target's Favorite Day baking line. The red color uses both Red 40 and Red 3 in combination — Red 40 provides a bright orange-red base while Red 3 deepens the hue toward true red. As with the Pink variant (id 1893279), the inclusion of Red 3 places this product within the scope of the FDA's January 2024 ruling revoking Red 3 authorization for ingested foods, with manufacturer compliance required by January 2027. This version's meringue powder omits sodium aluminum sulfate, using only gum arabic, citric acid, cream of tartar, and vanillin, making it a marginally cleaner meringue powder formulation compared to some Favorite Day icing variants. The base formulation is the standard sugar, palm oil and canola oil shortening, water, corn starch, salt, artificial flavor, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate, and natural and artificial vanilla creme flavor. Allergens: eggs (egg white in meringue powder). No wheat, dairy, soy, or nut allergens declared. At 371 calories per 100 grams with 17.1 grams of fat and 94.3 grams of carbohydrates, this product is calorie-dense per weight but used in small amounts for decoration. Sold at Target seasonally.
