The cake base is composed of sugar, bleached enriched wheat flour, water, soybean oil, and whole eggs with egg whites. Multiple emulsifiers are present including sorbitan monostearate, mono- and diglycerides, polysorbate 60, sodium stearoyl lactylate, and soy lecithin, which collectively maintain crumb moisture and texture over the product's shelf life. The white icing layer contains vegetable shortening derived from interesterified soybean oil, hydrogenated cottonseed oil, corn syrup, and titanium dioxide for whiteness. Colored decorative icing introduces artificial dyes — Blue 1, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Red 40, and Red 3 — along with high fructose corn syrup, sodium benzoate, guar gum, and phosphoric acid. A separate dec-on (decoration) component is made from sugar, egg white solids, and modified corn starch with additional artificial colorants.
